Challenge | How can one teacher instruct a classroom of students who are working on topics ranging from Kindergarten to 5th grade?
Process | I assessed students to understand their current instructional levels, as well as developed individualized education plans (IEPs) for each of them. I then gathered and developed an array of materials.
Design | Students were teamed in semi-homogenous groups. The teams rotated through teacher-led instruction, peer-assisted independent practice, interactive online activities, and hands-on physical activities. Although all students worked on the same general topic, patterns for example, all learning activities were targeted at their individual needs.
Outcome | All students met their year-end IEPs while developing a deeper appreciation for learning and working together.
